Photogravure is a chemical technique used to etch metals in a very precise way. Thanks to chemical etching we can engrave in a specific area thanks to the corrosive action of an acid.
The advantages of Photogravure
High accuracy of details
Compared to any other type of mechanical treatment, chemical etching makes high-precision components. Thanks to this tecnology we can prototype very quickly and we are flexible about ordered quantities. Moreover, thanks to chemical etching any material keep its stability during and after the treatments
Sharpness of cut
The most important advantage in chemical treatment is that the chemical and physical properties of the materials remain unchanged during and after the engravings. No other tecnology can achieve these results. Metal sheet is covered by a special photosensitive film. As in a photographic film, the drawing is printed in the sheet by an exposure to ultraviolet light.
Advanced technology
Finally, the parts of the photosensitive film are removed by a developing bath, creating areas that will be corroded by the acid. It's possible to corrode either one side of the sheet for one level etching or both sides in order to get passing cuts. It is also possible to attack more levels, engraving previous etched sheet.
